Mark Littell

Topps 1979, #466: Mark Littell. A Happy Birthday to the relief pitcher who saved 56 games and compiled and ERA of 3.32 ERA in 9 seasons (Kansas City & St. Louis). Although he had only allowed one long ball (Pedro Garcia/Detroit) in 104 innings in 1976 he gave up the famous home run to Yankee first baseman Chris Chambliss that sent New York to the Fall Classic. Please note that back then they did not call it a “walk off!”

By the way baseball fans that are readers…check out Mark Littell’s two books. I’ve read his second “On the Eighth Day, God Made Baseball” and its a great read! Have a great B Day Mark!
