Some of the best 18U, 16U & 14U teams in the country were at for the Atlanta Legacy Showcase Invitational July 13-16 in Marietta, GA. Here are some of Sunday’s highlights:

JANNEY, LEWIS GET 18U RETIRMENT PRESENT
Coaches Jason Janney and Chuck Lewis went out in style, beating Rock Gold Premier-Manetta, 2-1, in the 18U championship game of the Atlanta Legacy Showcase Invitational on Sunday at Lost Mountain Park in Powder Springs, GA,
Janney and Lewis retired from coaching after the game. Rock Gold-Manetta is the defending PGF 18U Platinum national champion.
““We started this journey in second year 10s and I was fortunate enough to add three opposing head coaches over the years to solidify a group that had the same goal and cared so much about the team and these players,” Janney said. “We are very proud of the fact that all our players are local and from about 40 miles apart in Atlanta and we tried to practice every week together as a team. The players on this team have been together a combined 77 years. We were very lucky to be able to coach these selfless players and an incredible group of parents. We couldn’t have scripted a better ending to our coaching career!”
North Carolina-bound CF Sanaa Thompson (.524 AVG, 5 SBs), Campbell-bound 3B/1B Lindsay Lumsden (5 RBIs), Lily Bell (7 runs, 409 OBP), UNCG-bound OF/C Samantha Beck (“unbelievable defense in the outfield), Western Carolina-committed 2024 P Amanda Fulton (1.068 ERA, 19 IP, 21 Ks), Delaware-committed 2024 P/UT Josie Crossman (0.538 ERA, 13 IP) and Georgia Southern-committed 2024 P Maddie Johnson (1.853 ERA, 11 IP, 14 Ks) led Impact-Janney/Lewis throughout the tournament.
Impact-Janney/Lewis defeated PA Outlaws-Fischl/Mulhall, 2-1, Florida Power-Black/Kser, 5-0, Atlanta Vipers 05-Tamborra, 7-0, Mojo-Lunsford, 2-0, and Rock Gold Premier-Manetta, 2-1, in bracket play.

UNITY-JOHNSON/ROSS CONTINUES 16U DOMINANCE
Virginia Unity-Johnson/Ross won its second major title in a week, defeating Georgia Impact Premier-Maher, 8-1, in the 16U championship game of the Atlanta Legacy Showcase Invitational on Sunday at Lost Mountain Park in Powder Springs, GA.
Unity-Johnson/Ross won the 16U National Pool at Triple Crown Colorado 4th of July earlier this month and they captured the 16U Triple Crown National title on Thursday in Alpharetta/Cumming, GA.
“After a long week at (Triple Crown) Nationals, we knew it would be a battle to finish and stay strong for Legacy,” North Carolina-committed 2024 RHP Lilly Parrish said, “but we did it and it shows a lot about who we are as a team. We don’t make excuses and we go out and give it our all every game. This week was truly a preparation for PGF next week and we aren’t finished, yet.”
2025 OF Rylie Johnson went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, 2025 OF McCall Sims went 2 for 3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, uncommitted 2024 C Alexia Carrasquillo went 1 for 2 with two RBIs, 2025 2B Kaidance Till went 1 for 2 with two runs and LSU-committed 2024 OF Destiny Harris went 1 for 2 with a double and a run for Unity-Johnson/Ross in the championship game.
Parrish pitched 5.0 scoreless innings of relief, giving up two hits, no walks and striking out five in the final.
Unity-Johnson/Ross beat Colorado Stars-Roberts, 10-0, Carolina Elite National-Fusetti, 1-0, Top Gun National-Slezak, 3-0, Fury Platinum X-Helton, 7-2, and Georgia Impact Premier-Maher, 8-1, in bracket play.
“We were riding high from winning the Colorado Sparkler,” Johnson said. “We were excited to test ourselves this week to get ready for PGF Nationals next week. Triple Crown is one of the premier national championships in the country and we wanted to add that to our collection. The tournament field had a great collection of competition from all across the country. Seven-inning games were challenging for us, especially with the heat, but we met the challenge head on.
“After winning Triple Crown on Thursday, we were physically tired coming into Legacy, but mentally we focused on our plan. Throughout the week as a team we stuck with the same approach, which was to hit line drives and groundballs, which lead to our success. Overall, we leave Georgia Triple Crown national champions, Atlanta Legacy Invitational champions, $10,000 richer, battled tested and more prepared to chase another PGF national title.”

BOLTS 2026-THOMPSON CAPTURES 14U TITLE
Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2026-Thompson took care of Beverly Bandits Futures-Mercurio, 4-0, in the 14U championship game of the Atlanta Legacy Showcase Invitational on Sunday at Lost Mountain Park in Powder Springs, GA.
2026 RHP Audrina Herber pitched a 5-inning no-hitter with no walks and five strikeouts to record the victory in the final. 2026 3B/OF Katie Norgard and 2026 3B Alexis Kierstead hit home runs, 2027 CF Haylen Ayers went 2 for 2 with a run and two stolen bases and 2027 SS Aspen Boulware went 1 for 3 with a triple and an RBI for Bolts-Thompson in the championship game.
Bolts-Thompson beat Marucci Patriots SE Gold 08, 11-0, PA Chaos National-DiMario, 16-0, Lady Dukes Gold-McHale, 6-1, Indiana Magic Gold National-Bennett/Goddard, 5-3, and Beverly Bandits Futures-Mercurio, 4-0, in bracket play.
