THE FINAL PITCH: ALEXIS JENSEN
Nebraska-committed 2025 LHP/1B Alexis Jensen recently talked to Dugout Chatter about Nebraska Gold, Gretna High, winning the Metro Coaches Pitcher of the Year Award, toughest opponent, make people realize, Nebraska, police, forensics, Randy Johnson, Brian Johnson, “Hell’s Bells,” “The Blacklist,” “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” and CrossFit.
THE FINAL PITCH Q&A
Name: Alexis Jensen
Hometown: Gretna, NE
High School: Gretna High
Club Team: Nebraska Gold 16U
Graduation Year: 2025
Height: 5-foot-9
Position: LHP
Nickname: Lex. I dislike Lexi and 9s since that is my number.
Twitter: @99jensenalexis
High School Stats (so far): Batting — .483 AVG, 13 RBIs; Pitching — 8-0, 0.51 ERA, 41 IP, 84 Ks.
Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them? I first became involved with (Nebraska) Gold after the team I was on switched over from Gretna Storm.
Tell us about your high school team, Gretna High (NE), and what your goals are this season? Our goals are to be the best team that we can be.
Can you talk about winning the Metro Coaches’ Pitcher of the Year Award last season? I was very grateful and I couldn’t have done it without my teammates.
Can you talk about your experience at the PGF Nationals this past summer? Didn’t go.
Which player/team has been your toughest opponent and why? Every team is tough. You just have to prove that you are tougher and can work harder.
What have you faced/overcome in life that has made you the person you are today? I have overcome people that were better pitchers and having to work harder to make people realize that you can accomplish your goals if you worked hard at them.
Why did you choose to commit to Nebraska? They have amazing coaches and they are so down to Earth and passionate about every single player and person.
What areas are you interested in future occupations and why? I am interested in being a police officer since they are always helping people and willing to put their lives on the line.
What’s your favorite subject to study in school and why? Forensics since it is really interesting and I really want to go into that area as either forensic scientist or police.
Who is your sports hero and why? Randy Johnson. He was so intense and he was always focused and very great on getting his outs.
What’s your favorite book to read and why? Brian Johnson’s biography (“The Lives of Brian”) since he is my favorite singer and he has an amazing story from being poor and down on (his) luck to one of the best singers in the world.
What’s the best hype song and why? “Hells Bell’s” (by AC/DC). It starts off with the slow bells then all of a sudden Brian Johnson’s vocals capitalize and make the best song ever.
What’s your favorite TV show to binge and why? My favorite show to binge is “The Blacklist” or “Blue Bloods” since I love the idea of crime and order and how sometimes criminals are the answer to catch others.
What’s your favorite movie and why? My favorite movie is “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” since Samuel Jackson and Ryan Reynolds are in the movie. They are always making jokes and having fun.
Do you have a secret talent/skill? I believe I am really good at CrossFit since it helps me on and off the softball field and also helps me dig deep and relax in pressure situations.
