Nickname: My nickname is “Drea.” I have been called this since I was little by family and close friends. At first, it was just a family thing and it felt kind of weird hearing others call me Drea. Now, everyone calls me Drea and I love it!

Twitter: @dreawilson06

Honors: 1st Team All-District; 1st Team Academic All-District; and Team MVP.

Travel Ball Fall Stats: Due to torn ACL and both meniscus she was not able to play during that time.

High School Stats: .403 AVG, .505 OBP, .805 SLG, 5 HRs and 17 RBIs.

Travel Ball Summer Stats (so far): .406 AVG, .527 OBP, .901 SLG, HR: 10 HRs and 46 RBIs.

Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them? My travel ball team is Texas Glory-Naudin 16U. My story is kind of unique. I’ve been playing against them since I started playing travel ball and we would always have fun competing against each other. I even used to pick up with them, so I developed a close relationship with the coaches and my other teammates. Finally, my parents and I decided that it was the best decision for me to play for them and excel my knowledge of the game with the top club in the DFW area. We’re coached by Lee Velasquez, Ed Naudin and Derek Mitchell. We’re like family. We spend most of the summer together and some of us have known each other since coach pitch, lol. We practice hard and play even harder. We have team dinners, do TikToks and play fun games before we play. It’s all fun and games, but as soon as we step on the field, it’s business!

Tell us about your high school team and how you did? My high school team is the North Forney Falcons. I had just been cleared in January of 2023 from my injury, just in time for high-school ball, so I was a little rusty. I had ups and down throughout high school, but I gave it my all for my team in the end. We lost a very special coach due to breast cancer, so our theme this year was #NoFearJustFaith. We didn’t win state for her, but I think we gave it all we had and she would have been proud.

Can you tell us about your experience in the 16U National Power Pool at Triple Crown Colorado 4th of July? Playing in the 16U National Power Pool at Triple Crown Colorado 4th of July is an amazing experience. It allows me and my team to see the best of the best and to put our best skills to the test. I love being able to meet so many teams from all over and being able to compete against them.

Which player/team has been your toughest opponent and why? I would say our biggest opponent is ourselves. I believe we can beat any team out there, but if we get in our heads and think otherwise, we could make it much harder on ourselves.

What have you faced/overcome in life that has made you the person you are today? I faced hardships such as tearing my ACL and both meniscus in my knee freshman year. I also caught my finger in a bike chain when I was 8 (years old). This has helped me mentally and physically to keep pushing and to always give 110 percent no matter the circumstances.

What are you looking for in a future college? I look for a home away from home in a college. A college that is diverse on many different levels, which allows me to have different experiences and perspectives.

What areas are you interested in future occupations and why? I am interested in being a physical therapist because I want to be able to help others and my drive and passion comes from having to attend physical therapy for my hand and knee and both of my physical therapists filled my days with joy and gave me all the motivation to just keep working and I would love to be able to do that for others and give them their spark back if it was ever lost.

What’s your favorite subject to study in school and why? My favorite subject is math because I love working the problems out on paper and doing multi-task problems.

Who is your sports hero and why? I don’t really have a sports hero, but if I had to choose it would definitely be Kobe Bryant because he always gave 110 percent and always was working at his craft to be the best he could be.

What’s your favorite book to read and why? My favorite book to read is “Cinder” (by Marissa Meyer) because of the sci-fi and romantic spin it has.

What’s the best hype song and why? “Dreams and Nightmares” by Meek Mill because of the strong beat and the motivational lyrics.

What’s your favorite TV show to binge and why? “Stranger Things” because of the relationship between the friends and the scary but funny spin on the show.

What’s your favorite movie and why? My favorite movie is “The Hunger Games” Series because I can relate to Katniss because she faced adversity and continued to adjust and overcame every obstacle that came here way.

Do you have a secret talent/skill? I would say my secret talent is being able to whistle any song played.
