News: 18U, 16U & 14U Champions Crowned at PGF Show Me The Money (June 11, 2023)

PGF Show Me The Money was held Thursday-Sunday, June 8-11, in Gainesville/Newberry, FL. Here are some of Sunday’s highlights:

GEORGIA IMPACT-CAYMOL REIGNS SUPREME IN 18U

Georgia Impact-Caymol came out of the loser’s bracket to beat Select Fastpitch-Jones, 8-5, in the 18U championship game of PGF Show Me The Money on Sunday at Champions Park in Newberry, FL.

Georgia Impact-Caymol won the PGF 16U Premier national championship last summer and Select Fastpitch-Jones was the runner-up at PGF 18U Premier Nationals last summer. Georgia Impact-Caymol earned $10,000 prize money for winning the tournament.

North Carolina-committed 2024 UT Ella Fox went 3 for 4,
Clemson-committed 2024 OF Kylee Johnson went 2 for 4 with two SBs and Western Kentucky-bound RHP Rylan Smith struck out five in seven innings to lift Georgia Impact-Caymol in the finals.

Eastern Kentucky-bound OF Reese Knox (.462 AVG),
Ohio State-bound 3B Emily Caron (.381 AVG) and Arizona-committed 2024 MIF Kate Vance (.367 avg) were some of the offensive standouts for Georgia Impact-Caymol for the tournament.

Smith (1.60 ERA) and Tennessee-committed RHP Ella Dodge (1.80) ERA) were the top arms in the tournament for Georgia Impact-Caymol.

Georgia Impact-Caymol defeated EC Bullets Gold-Schnute, 5-1, lost to Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier-Rocky, 4-0, beat Florida Impact Gold-Ladd, 5-0, Tennessee Mojo-Danley/Fisher, 2-1, Mojo-Lunsford, 3-2, Lady Lightning Gold, 16-4, Georgia Bombers Gold-Lewis, 2-0, Georgia Impact-Sampson, 1-0, Tampa Mustangs-Torres, 8-1, and Select Fastpitch-Jones, 8-5, in bracket play.

Select Fastpitch-Jones beat Tampa Mustangs-Rene, 1-0, Top Gun National, 3-1, Georgia Impact-Sampson, 3-2, Tampa Mustangs-Torres, 3-1, and lost to Georgia Impact-Caymol, 8-5, in bracket play.

BOLTS-KAPLAN DISPATCHES SELECT FASTPITCH IN 16U

Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2024-Kaplan, the runner-up at PGF 16U Premier Nationals last summer, took care of Select Fastpitch-Salazar/McCoy, 3-0, in the 14U championship game of PGF Show Me The Money on Sunday at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, FL.

Bolts-Kaplan earned $10,000 prize money for winning the tournament.

2025 IF Ambrey Taylor came up huge in the championship game, driving in two of the three runs. Memphis-committed 2024 1B/UT Mia Brown (.458, .519 OBP, 1.060 OPS) and 2026 SS/UT Katie King (.435 AVG, .536 OBP, 1.275 OPS) were the offensive leaders for Bolts-Kaplan in the tournament. They got outstanding performances from their pitching staff, which included 2025 RHP Lillie McWhorter (0.40 ERA), 2025 RHP Marlee Gaskell (0.00 ERA), 2025 LHP Mary Peyton Hodge and 2024 RHP Mya Holt (1.05 ERA).

Select Fastpitch-Salazar/McCoy beat Fury Platinum X-Helton, 6-3, Tampa Mustangs-Ray, 6-1, Tampa Mustangs-Seymour, 9-1, Ohio Hawks National 2024-Joseforsky, 3-1, and lost to Thunderbolts-Kaplan, 2-0 and 3-0, in bracket play.

MUSTANGS-FOWLER OUTLAST EVERYBODY IN 14U

Tampa Mustangs 26/27-Fowler lost its first bracket play game against Beverly Bandits Premier-Norwood on Saturday and came all the way back to beat Fury Premier 2026-Ventura, 7-0, in the 14U final of PGF Show Me The Money on Sunday at Katie Seashole Pressley Stadium in Gainesville, FL.

Mustangs-Fowler received $10,000 prize money for winning the tournament.

2027 MIF/OF Maren Hornsby (.516, 16 hits), 2026 UT Kenzie Boisvert (.385 / 8 RBIs), 2026 1B Alexis Minaberry (13 RBIs) and 2027 C Stella Christie (9 RBIs) were the offensive standouts for Mustangs-Fowler throughout the tournament.

The stars in the circle for Mustangs-Fowler were 2026 RHP Lauren Compton (30 IP, 2.00 ERA) and 2026 RHP Addison Felblinger (26 IP, 1.60 ERA).

Mustangs-Fowler coach Kyle Fowler said the defense really stood out.

“2026 OF Auriana Turner and 2027 OF/P McKaelyn Fowler were all over the outfield,” Fowler said. “Diving catches, game changing throws and not letting anything drop in the grass all weekend. It was the best outfield play I have seen in a very long time.

TEAM SPOTLIGHT: TENNESSEE MOJO-DANLEY/FISHER

Outlook: Michael Danley teamed up with Josh Fisher for this season after Fisher led the Mojo to a 34-10-1 record, Top Gun Invitational championshp, 2nd at Boulder IDT and a 13th-place finish at PGF 18U Premier Nationals last summer. They went 13-3-1 with wins over Georgia Impact-Caymol, Arizona Storm National-Mathis and Georgia Bombers-Lewis. They have an automatic bid to PGF 18U Premier Nationals this summer. They have two stud lefties — Ashtyn Danley and Audrey Lowery — leading the pitching staff. They also have two quality righties — Kirsten Fleet and Carly Maxton. “We feel like we have a mix of big-time HR power/gap-to-gap hitters, line-drive hitters, as well as, we’ll have the ability to utilize the speed/short game,” Fisher said. “We feel like we are an aggressive team on the base paths and have several players, who we expect to have double figures in stolen bases. Our team understands the importance of getting on base and having good at-bats, which are key ingredients to our team success.” They have the most versatility than they’ve had on defense and they play at an elite level.

ROSTER:

  • Ashtyn Danley (2023, LHP/CF/1B, Florida State, throws in the mid to upper 60s, lefty hitter with huge HR power to all fields. Defensively, can play CF as good as any and can play any position in the OF or 1B. A true 5-tool athlete. She has multiple PGF Premier national championships)
  • Ana Roman (2025, OF, uncommitted, a 5-tool player, has huge HR power, gap-to-gap, hits the ball to all sides of the field from the left side, plus speed and has one of the best overhand arms in the country)
  • Audrey Lowry (2024, LHP, Oklahoma, a lefty with electric stuff. Does not walk batters. Commands all of her pitches. Competes unbelievably and is a big-game pitcher)
  • Jayden Jones (2024, MIF/OF/3B, Virginia Tech, a lefty hitter, hits the ball to all fields, big-time HR power, gap-to-gap, plus speed, can play MIF, any OF position, 3B, steals bases, athletic and strong)
  • Angelee Bueno (2023, 1B, Florida State, a professional left-handed hitter with huge HR power to all fields. Defensively, tremendous hands, footwork around the bag and a strong/accurate arm)
  • Jenna Krol (2024, OF/C, East Carolina, played up in 18U and has developed quickly into one of the top 2024s. Has big HR power. Hits the ball well to the opposite field. Has very good speed and stole double-digit bases a year ago. Defensively, she plays catcher. Has only been catching just over two years. Blocks the ball very well and frames the ball exceptionally well. She also can and has played any position of the OF at the highest level of travel ball)
  • Jaysoni Beachum (2023, 3B/C, Florida State, has as much HR power as any kid in travel ball. Is a big-game performer and clutch hitter. Hits elite level arms well. Defensively, has amazing hands and a quick release at 3B. Has tons of experience at the highest levels of travel ball)
  • Kirsten Fleet (2023, RHP, James Madison, throws mid to upper 60s. Went a stretch of over 45 Innings (at the 18U level) without a BB. Has complete command of each and every one of her pitches. Relentless work ethic and big-time competitor)
  • Rose Davis (2023, SS, Oklahoma State, one of the best defensive SS in the country. Fantastic hands, tremendous range, quick release with an extremely strong and accurate arm. Offensively, a line-drive hitter with double-digit HR power. Very good speed and excellent base runner)
  • Jace Jackson (2023, 2B/3B, Pittsburgh, from the left-handed side, has elite speed and can utilize the speed game with the bunt to both sides, as well as handles the bat very well by hitting line drives to all fields. Premier base stealer. Defensively, can play both 2B and 3B at an elite level. Has incredible hands, range and quick release)
  • Kiley Strott (2023, C/OF, Central Florida, commands and controls the game very well. Does a very good job with the pitching staff. As a catcher, blocks and receives the ball as good as any. Offensively, has really developed into an offensive threat. Has very good at-bats. Can hit the long ball to all fields)
  • Carly Maxton (2023, RHP, North Carolina State, throws mid-upper 60s. Understands counts and situations well beyond her years. Tons of big-game experience. Has the ability to be a double-digit strikeout kid at the Power 5 level)
  • Makayla Madrid (2023, C/OF, UTEP, had a huge fall. Game-changing arm strength at the catcher position. Really controls the run game. Also, blocks and receives well. Offensively, from the left-hand side, has big time HR abilities. Hits elite level pitching well. Hits the ball to all fields)
  • Delacia Deleslin (2023, Florida A&M, can go and get the ball as good as any. Has tremendous speed. Takes really good angles to the ball, which prevents extra-base hits. Very accurate and strong arm. Offensively, from the left-hand side of the plate, can utilize the speed game with the bunt/slap, however, has the ability to play the defense and drive the ball into both gaps)
  • Addie DeLong (2024, 3B, Florida State, one of the best overall players in the country, big-time hitter to all fields. Utilizes speed game as good as any. Another 5-tool kid. Versatile defensively and can be the best at multiple spots)

Outlook: The Aces play a rugged schedule against many of the top teams in the country, they went 88-24 last summer and finished tied for 9th place at the 18U Alliance Nationals. They beat Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier, Tennessee Mojo-Danley/Fisher, Iowa Premier National, Corona Angels-Tyson and Wichita Mustangs-Griggs in the fall. They have already qualified for AFCS 3 this summer. The pitching staff is versatile and one of the deepest the program has had. They have power up and down the lineup and multiple middle-of-the-lineup hitters. The defense has versatile athletes that offer a lot of different looks.

ROSTER:

  • Olivia Branstetter (2023, 3B, South Alabama, a lock down third baseman with excellent feet. She has MIF range and a very strong arm. She has middle-of-the-lineup power and average)
  • Malia Thoms (2023, MIF/OF/UT, Nebraska, a power bat in the lineup and hits for average)
  • Emmerson Cope (2023, RHP/1B, Nebraska, a power pitcher/hitter. She throws in the mid-60s with the ability to keep hitters off balance. She’s a high average hitter with next level power and 80-mph plus exit velo)
  • Lexi McDaniel (2025, MIF, uncommitted, one of the best bats in the country. A middle-of-the-lineup hitter with average and power. Defensively, very versatile and can play all over the infield)
  • Allyssa Parker (2025, RHP/SS/3B/UT, uncommitted, a true SS with excellent range and arm strength. In addition, an elite pitcher with upper 60s velo and great command on her pitches. A game-changing bat that hits in the middle of the order)

TEAM SPOTLIGHT: IMPACT GOLD-JACKSON

Outlook: Impact Gold went 38-7-1 last summer, finishing as runner-ups at the Alliance Super Cup and TFL Summer Championships and finishing tied for 9th place at 18U Alliance Nationals. They went 25-2-1 in the fall and already qualified for AFCS 3. “My team is a proven group of athletes that are highly-ranked and heavily-recruited,” Impact Gold coach KC Jackson said. “Staying healthy during this high school season is key for our success. This is one of the best teams we’ve put together.” The pitching staff has high velocity to great offspeed, tremendous riseballs to nasty drops and power screwballs to incredible curveballs. “My offense is still EXPOSIVE!!” Jackson said. “We can swing it with the best of them as usual. We added some firepower to the top of line with Ashtyn (Reichardt) to help returner KJ (Drafton) set the stage. And added straight ball killers in the middle of our lineup with Ella (McDowell), Cam (Harrison) and Abby (Ptak) to keep teams from pitching around Victoria (Hunter) and Makenna (Mitchell). There’s no batters off with this lineup.” Impact Gold made its gretest improvements on defense. They are very interchangeable, fast, strong-armed, but, most important, they have high softball IQs.

ROSTER:

  • Sidne Peter (2023, RHP, Washington, a nationally known big, hard-throwing 70-mph right-hander. She’s a very competitive strikeout master, who averages nearly 2.0 strikeouts per inning)
  • Victoria Hunter (2023, 1B/OF, Texas, one of the best power hitters in the country. She’s batting .734 with 13 HRs and 41 RBIs)
  • Kennedy Drafton (2023, 2B/UT, Eastern Kentucky, one of the best pure hitters in the game. She bats .563 and typically a top HR hitter on her team. She’s going to steal 50 bases each year)
  • Makenna Mitchell (2023, 3B/SS, Texas Tech, easily the best 5-tool kid in the business. She bats .557 stole 40 bases with 13 HRs and 51 RBIs)
  • Nathalie Touchet (2023, RHP, Missouri, an elite level down-baller that has dominated some of the best hitters in the country. She’s already thrown three no-hitters this season while averaging 1.5 strikeouts per inning)
  • Madison Guidry (2023, LHP, Lamar, a dominate lefty that’s a very competitive and athletic pitcher. She has a 1.01 ERA with opponents only batting .207)
  • Makenzie Wright (2023, C/1B, Lamar, a big-armed catcher that commands the field. A powerful hitter batting .474 with a great mind for the game)
  • Ella McDowell (2024, SS/3B, Arkansas, the #1 2024 SS in the country. She’s been top-ranked for years)
  • Cameryn Harrison (2024, RHP/1B, Arkansas, a top 2024 pitcher and can swing it with the best of them)
  • Ashtyn Reichardt (2024, CF, Arkansas, one of the purest lefty hitters in the country. She’s a ball hawk with all of the tools)
  • Ella Trout (2024, RHP, Georgia, a very competitive down baller that has elite ball spin)
  • Ariel Redmond (2024, OF, Houston, a speedy, rangy and powerful 5-tool player)
  • Abby Ptak (2024, C, uncommitted, one of the best catchers in the 2024 class. She’s tall, strong and powerful)
  • Lien Brister (2024, 3B/UT, uncommitted, a true utility player. Jackson’s favorite type with an electric style of play)
  • Gabby Scott (2024, C, uncommitted, a big gun catcher that’s eager the throw you out and always with a big bat)
  • Kamryn DeLeon (2024, OF/UT, uncommitted, a scrappy, feisty utility player with great foot speed)

BOLTS-BRASHEARS WINS PGF SUPER SELECT 12U CHAMPIONSHIP

Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2028-Brashears outlasted 56 teams from 20-plus states, beating Texas Bombers 2K10-Zuniga, 7-0, in the finals to claim the PGF Super Select 12U Championship on Sunday, June 4, at Ridley Sports Complex in Columbia, TN.

While all the Birmingham Thunderbolt pitchers performed at a high level, the contribution of a perfect game in the championship game by 2028 P Kenzie Jackson and 2028 P Elyn Simpkins capped the weekend in Tennessee.

The Thunderbolts, who outscored their opponents, 49-10, were led offensively by 2028 SS Macie Brashears (.692 AVG, 9 RBIs) and 2028 OF Briley “BooBoo” Bright (.500 AVG) over the nine-game stretch.

Bolts-Brashears defeated Arkansas Flex 2010, 2-0, Beverly Bandits Premier 2010-Binkley/Glass, 4-0, Beverly Bandits Premier 2010-Mrozek, 6-5, Tulsa Shootout 2010, 3-0, Corona Angels 2010, 6-1, Texas Bombers 2K19-Zuniga, 8-2, and Texas Bombers 2K10-Zuniga, 7-0, in bracket play.
