2025 C/3B/1B Kendall Wells, considered one of the top 2025 prospects in the nation, committed to Oklahoma on Wednesday.

Wells batted .475 with 11 HRs and 58 RBIs to help Georgia Impact-Sampson place 5th at the PGF 18U Premier National this past summer. She hit .783 with 10 HRs and 23 RBIs for North Oconee High in Georgia last fall.

“I am super excited that I was given the chance and opportunity to be a part of this amazing program of elite coaches and athletes!” Wells said. “I will be playing alongside some of the best athletes in the country that will always push me to my best! But the thing that has always stood out to me since I’ve been going to camps and was very obvious on my visit was how much of a family atmosphere the team at Oklahoma is. The girls on the team are always with each other on and off the field! Because it is far away from home, I knew wanted a team and coaches that feel like family, and that is exactly what is at Oklahoma!”

Oklahoma is the three-time defending WCWS national champion. 2025 RHP/1B Sophia Bordi of OC Batbusters-Stith committed to Oklahoma on Tuesday.

THE FINAL PITCH: JORDIN WASHINGTON

Uncommitted 2026 MIF Jordin Washington recently talked to Dugout Chatter about Corona Angels, Rancho Cucamonga High, taking 5th place at the 14U Alliance Nationals, OC Batbusters-K. Stith/Black, playing BIG, future college, human behavior, biology, LeBron James, “Land of Stories,” Kendrick Lamar, “The Vampire Diaries,” “Avengers: Infinity War” and freestyle rapping.

THE FINAL PITCH Q&A

Name: Jordin Washington

Hometown: Rancho Cucamonga, CA

High School: Rancho Cucamonga High

Club Team: Corona Angels 14U-Tyson (previous season)/Corona Angels-Tyson/Slye (current as of September 2023)

Graduation Year: 2026

Height: 5-foot-1

Position: MIF

Nickname: Jordy … it started with my cousin, Kayla, and then my teammates call me it as well.

Twitter/Instagram: @Jordinwashington21

Honors: Principal’s Honor Roll (4.1 GPA); Honor’s Biology; BSU Honors; Baseline League MVP; Rookie of the Year; Golden Glove MVP; 1st Team All-League; Alliance Tier 1 All-Tournament (2023); Alliance Super Cup Tier 1 All-Tournament (2023); ODM Leaderboard #9; Alliance 14u Nationals Tier 1 Top of the Leaderboard for batting average .625 (2022); USA Softball All-American (2021); and PGF 10U Nationals MVP Player (2019).

High School Stats: 23 games, 74 at-bats, .527 AVG, .756 SLG, .573 OBP, 39 hits, 2 doubles, 6 triples, 1 HR, RBI 17s, 32 runs, 21 of 21 SBs, 24 put-outs, 29 assists, 1 error, .981 fielding percentage.

Travel Ball Summer Stats: 115 at-bats, .444 AVG, .574 SLG, .500 OBP, 51 hits, 3 doubles, 3 triples, 2 HRs, 17 RBIs, 50 runs, 48 of 51 SBs, 44 put-outs, 64 assists, 5 errors and .966 fielding percentage.

Jordin Washington of Corona Angels-Tyson. Photo by Jackie Driskill.

Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them? I started off my travel ball journey at the young age of 9 (years old) with the Angel’s coach, Lydell McCullough. Lydell was one of my first rec ball and All-Star coaches in Rancho Ace Softball. Lydell ended up asking me to come play with him for the Angels and we placed 3rd in Nationals the first year. My journey continued with Coach Lydell from the age of 9 (years old) to 14 (years old) and we won the national championship with his excellent coaching in 2019. My slapping training began at 9 (years old) with another superb Angels’ Coach, Chenita Rogers-Edwards, who taught me the foundation for slapping and helped me to hone my craft. After playing with Coach Lydell, I started my first year 14s with the Perez/Tyson team and continued to my final 14s with Head Coach Marty (Tyson) and assistant Coaches Gary (Richards) and Lydell. Coach Marty’s coaching style helped to advance my game, not only physically, but mentally. He challenged me in the areas of leadership, accountability and the intangibles. His process, which is incorporated throughout the program, prepares you the most for a successful softball career in college.

Tell us about your high school team and how you did? I really enjoyed my freshman year of high school softball. I was able to use my leadership and intangibles during the season quite a bit. Coach (Mike) Lindensmith and Coach Val (Toth) were super supportive and encouraging, allowing me to develop my game in other positions as well as my primary one. I did well; Baseline League 1st Team All-League, Golden Glove MVP and Freshman of the Year.

Jordin Washington of Corona Angels-Tyson. Photo by Jackie Driskill.

Can you tell us about Corona Angels-Tyson’s run to 5th place at the 14U Alliance Nationals this summer? I couldn’t be more proud of my team competing in Nationals this summer. We all contributed different strengths that allowed us to be a great team that was undefeated until we lost our first game in the Elite 8. No matter how much the odds were stacked against us, we never lost our fight and competed to the very end. This team showed heart, grit and determination, having one another’s backs through thick and thin, and at the end of the day, no matter win or lose, we did it together.

Which player/team has been your toughest opponent and why? I always look forward to the challenge of playing against Batbusters-Stith/Black since they are one of our rival organizations in our local area.

What have you faced/overcome in life that has made you the person you are today? My biggest challenge thus far has been having to prove and showcase my talent each season because of my height. In life, I have been doubted and sometimes overlooked due to my height and I have always had to show that size is only a number and though I am short, I play BIG. “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight; it’s the size of the fight in the dog.”

What are you looking for in a future college? I am looking for a college that allows me the opportunity to use my acquired skills while challenging me to grow and compete at the highest level. As far as the colleges’ softball programs are concerned, I am looking for a family-like environment that is passionate and competitive like my Angels’ program now.

What areas are you interested in future occupations and why? I haven’t decided yet, but I am looking at majors and occupations where I can help people and study human behavior.

What’s your favorite subject to study in school and why? My favorite subject is biology because I love the study of life.

Who is your sports hero and why? I really like Lebron James because he started from the bottom and made it to the top and brought his family and friends along with him. He also gives a lot back to schools, programs and charities.

What’s your favorite book to read and why? I loved reading the “Land of Stories” series when I was younger because it allowed me to use my imagination and bring the fantasy world to life in my head.

What’s the best hype song and why? “Alright” by Kendrick Lamar. I like the beat; it gets me hyped up at the plate to bat.

What’s your favorite TV show to binge and why? My favorite TV show to binge is “The Vampire Diaries.” I Love this show because I love the supernatural world and Ian Somerhalder.

What’s your favorite movie and why? I love the Marvel movies, but my all-time favorite movie is “Avengers: Infinity War” because I love how the Avengers work as a team and I secretly wish I had a superpower.

Do you have a secret talent/skill? I am great at doing my hair and makeup, but secretly I became a freestyle rapper in the mirror.

Bordi was one of the most sought-after 2025 recruits in the country before she decided to commit to Oklahoma, the three-time defending WCWS national champions.

“I’m super blessed with the opportunity to join not only an incredible program, but a family!” Bordi said. “When I was on my visit, that’s the one thing that really stood out to me, how close everyone was not just on the field, but off as well. On top of that, I am receiving an amazing opportunity to be trained and coached by one of the best coaching staffs in college softball and I will be constantly surrounded by people who will push me to be the best version of myself on the field and in the classroom!”

Bordi helped OC Batbusters-Stith win its second consecutive 18U Alliance national championship in August. Bordi needed just 80 pitches to throw a no-hitter with eight strikeouts as OC Batbusters-Stith beat Aces Fastpitch Club, 1-0, in Game 1 of the best-of-3 national championship series.

THE FINAL PITCH: ELIANA CORONA

Uncommitted 2028 C Eliana Corona recently talked to Dugout Chatter about BSC Bengals, Saint Bruno Catholic School, winning a PGF 12U Premier national championship, Wildcats-Holcomb/Knight, Faith, future college, engineering, math, Robert Morales, “The Wizard Series,” Drake, “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Croods” and Spanish singing.

THE FINAL PITCH Q&A

Eliana Corona of BSC Bengals. Photo courtesy of BSC Bengals.

Name: Eliana Corona

Hometown: Whittier, CA

Middle School: Saint Bruno Catholic School

Future High School: Unknown

Club Team: BSC Bengals-Briggs 12U

Grad Year: 2028

Height: 5-foot-5

Position: C

Nickname: Eli. My parents gave me this nickname, but mainly my mom started calling me this when I was a baby.

Instagram: @eliana_corona2

Honors: Gold Honor Roll with a 4.0 GPA

Travel Ball Fall Stats: .480 AVG, .555 OBP, 1.344 OPS and .789 SLG.

Travel Ball Summer Stats: .443 AVG, .527 OBP, 1.281 OPS, .754 SLG, 115 hits, 19 doubles, 15 triples, 9 HRs, 89 RBIs, 59 runs, 44 walks and 20 strikeouts.

Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them? My travel ball team feels like home to me. I feel welcomed with my teammates around me, making me better and encouraging me to be the best I can be. Also, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the help of my coaches. They taught me how to be humble for the game, how to be grateful for what I do and how to love the game with all my heart. As a team, we are very competitive so that helps us push one another to be the best and learn from each other. Since I don’t have siblings, these girls will always be my softball sisters for life.

BSC Bengals-CKM won the PGF 12U Premier national championship at the 2023 PGF Nationals. Photo by PGF.

For the Briggs organization, we have many wonderful things about the Bengals family. We know they focused a lot on their student-athletes and also went deeper into getting to know them as a person. It’s not just an organization, but more of a family atmosphere. One thing I love about this organization is that they are strong in their faith. Every game we make sure to pray so God can watch over us that game and start the day right. I started getting involved with the Bengals by going to organizational practices where I would see every Bengals girl there. I would also do catching lessons with Ken Briggs and would get to practice with older girls.

Tell us about your current middle school team and future high school? My middle school team has made it to the Cyo championship twice in two years, but sadly has fallen short and got second place both times. My team is a mixture of people who know how to play and people who are barely learning how to play the game. I would help all the new people who would not know how to play and would teach them how to field a ground ball, throw the ball and hit the ball. It took a few practices for them to get the hang of it, but they figured it out sooner or later.

Can you talk about the BSC Bengals-CKM’s run to the PGF 12U Premier national championship? From the first two days of pool play, we won all our games. Since we got a bye in the first bracket play game, we played that Wednesday at 2:45 p.m. against Georgia Impact. It was a close game that day, but we took the win, 1-0. That game we gave it all we got to win that game, but I knew we weren’t done yet. The next day we played another game against Hustle National-Ramon. We knew from the first bracket play that there weren’t going to be any easy games. Again we won that game, 1-0, fighting hard the whole way through. On Friday, we played two games. The first game we played against the Birmingham Thunderbolts and took that game, 7-0. After that game, we were pumped. We knew only a couple more games until the championship so we kept on pushing. We had one more game that day against the Arizona Storm not knowing we would face them once again in the championship. We finished that day with a win, 3-0, to put us in the semifinals of the PGF Premier (12U) Tournament. That Saturday we played Athletics Marcado-Walker. We came into that game ready. We started strong with a 3-0 lead, but somewhere in that game they tied it back up to 3-3. Not going to lie, it was nerve-racking but I believed. I knew we would step up and fight back. We reminded ourselves to keep fighting that the game wasn’t over yet and we had to finish strong. So we kept going, keeping the score at 3-3 until it was our time to hit. It was our time to shine out there and bam! The bats just lit up. It was hit after hit, run after run and we fought. We fought to the end where we ended, 9-3. I couldn’t be more proud of my teammates, but we couldn’t stop there. One more game. One last game. That championship game was the best. The parents were hyped, the players were hyped and no matter what happened in that game I would be happy no matter what. I was so proud of my teammates that we made it this far. Again we started to get hit after hit, getting run after run and being able to hold them at 0 the whole game. That game felt like any other game. I didn’t feel nervous at all and since we were on TV I even forgot mid-game that we were even on TV. I remember being in the dugout and someone in there told us the runner on second was the winning run. We all got up and once that run came in we went running. That will always be my favorite memory. We ended that game with an 8-0 win and only allowed three runs the whole tournament.

Which player/team has been your toughest opponent and why? A team that has been my toughest opponent all year would Wildcats-Holcomb/Knight. They would have to be my toughest opponent because they have great pitching and a solid defense. That team is also well-coached. Every game I played against them was always a close game in tournaments and even in championship games.

What have you faced/overcome in life that has made you the person you are today? One thing that has made me the person I am today is my faith in God. With Him everything is possible. He has placed very special people in my life that have mentored me from my parents and family to my coaches and teammates. I feel that I continue to be blessed with the love and support from them, as I continue to do what I love.

What are you looking for in a future college? I am looking for a place where I can grow and develop not only academically, but in all aspects of life — a place where I can also feel at home.

Eliana Corona of BSC Bengals. Photo courtesy of Eliana Corona.

What areas are you interested in future occupations and why? I’m interested in majoring in engineering one day. I would like to do this because I would get to be creative in what I do and also gives me opportunities to solve many problems. I can change the world in ways that only people can imagine.

What’s your favorite subject in school and why? My favorite subject in school would have to be math because it also allows me to solve many problems and keep my mind thinking about the next problem.

Who is your sports hero and why? Even though there are many sports players out there who are wonderful at what they do, the first one that comes to mind is my coach Robert Morales. I have known him since my La Habra All-Star team in 6U. He has stood by my side since Day 1, making me a better player and person. Even though he taught me how to love the game, he also taught me how to be a leader. He pushes me to my best, from my hitting to my catching. He controls the game from the pitch calls as I control the game from behind the plate. I will always be grateful for what he has done for me. I have learned from him that, ‘If you love the game, the game will love you back.’ I will forever stick to that.

What’s your favorite book to read and why? My favorite book that I have read would have to be “The Wizard Series: Training Camp by Kobe Bryant.” This would be one of my favorites because it teaches how to confront your inner fears and how to trust your teammates.

What’s the best hype song and why? The best hype song in my opinion would have to be “Started From the Bottom” by Drake. I picked this song because I feel the lyrics tell the truth about me and my team. We all had to start somewhere in this softball life. From me to my team, we did start from the bottom and worked our way to being the number 1 team in the country.

What’s your favorite TV show to binge and why? My favorite TV show to binge-watch would have to be “Grey’s Anatomy” because I love the drama that happens in there and it’s interesting to keep up with it.

What’s your favorite movie and why? My favorite movie to watch would be “Croods.” I have liked this movie ever since I was little because it was about family and sticking together.

Do you have a secret talent/skill? One talent I have is that I can sing in Spanish, pronouncing every word the right way even though I don’t know what they are saying or what I’m talking about.

Hometown: Hampstead, NH

High School: Pinkerton Academy

Club Team: Rhode Island Thunder 14U National-Lotti

Graduation Year: 2027

Height: 5-foot-11

Travel Ball Summer Stats: (Ohio Outlaws 14U National-Leggins Spring/Summer 2023) Pitching — 1.25 ERA, 73 IP, 30 hits, 124 Ks; (NorthEast Hurricanes 14U-Mac 09 Spring/Summer 2023) Pitching — 1.73 ERA, 101 IP, 47 hits, 206 Ks; Hitting — .341 AVG, .440 OBP, .935 OPS, 3 HRs.

Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them? This past year I played on two travel teams — NorthEast Hurricanes-Mac 09 out of Salem, NH, and Ohio Outlaws National 14U-Leggins. I happily played with the Hurricanes-Mac 09 since 10U and the Outlaws just this year. But we wanted to make a change to play more challenging tournaments, plus a team we could actually practice with as the Outlaws are out of Ohio and we live in New Hampshire (not super realistic). As things normally go this time of year, a lot of girls are making team changes and my new coach at RI Thunder, coach Dave Lotti and Manny Moitoso, reached out through Facebook and contacted my dad. They told him all about RI Thunder and what tournaments we would attend. Plus, we were familiar with them and their reputation. After a couple of weeks of consideration, we decided to join them!

Tell us about your future high school team? I will be a freshman at Pinkerton Academy in Derry. NH. It is a large school, approximately 4,000 students, so I expect to have a bunch of good girls to play with and against on that team! I am already familiar with lots of the girls in this area by playing either with or against them in regional tourneys, so it should be fun.

Which player/team has been your toughest opponent and why? The toughest opponent I have faced in the past couple years would have to be NH Comets 14U-Taylor. They have been one of the harder teams to beat because I’ve played multiple times against them in school ball and travel ball. So, they have seen me pitch a lot and done well to time up my pitching better than any other team/opponent. I think it is hard for most teams to time up my pitching, but the Comets seem to figure out how to do it! But it’s always a good game when we play them.

What have you faced/overcome in life that has made you the person you are today? I had an elbow injury last year after fall softball and I needed to take time off from softball — 100 percent. I was playing basketball, but even that struggled a bit. I was not used to taking time off and resting my arm 100 percent, plus the rehab. It was tough and it taught me to be careful and not overdo it with throwing too much — especially overhand throwing. So now we take more time and care of my arm … and I’m looking forward to training this coming winter vs. having to take off 100 percent.

What are you looking for in a future college? Looking for School first, Softball second … meaning I want a University that will help me prioritize school. Also, I would like a team that has a great coaching staff with positive camaraderie and team chemistry. Plus, I’d like it to not be too far away … at least on the East Coast to Midwest?

What areas are you interested in future occupations and why? Honestly, I’m not really sure yet what I want to do. I am interested in Marine Biology, as well as Therapy to help people with their problems. Two very different fields, but still interesting!

What’s your favorite subject to study in school and why? My favorite subject is science and labs, all of the hands-on parts are super interesting and fun.

Who is your sports hero and why? Rachel Garcia from UCLA is my favorite player because she was dominant at both pitching and hitting! Not a lot of pitchers are also stud hitters, but she was awesome at both — something I strive for!!

What’s your favorite book to read and why? “Can’t Hurt Me” by David Goggins. It shows all that he has gone through to become the accomplished person he is — very inspirational.

What’s the best hype song and why? “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. It just gets me going and is often in my head while I’m on the field, singing this song to myself.

What’s your favorite TV show to binge and why? “Suits” (on Netflix). It is just a good, funny show about a law firm.

What’s your favorite movie and why? “The Hangover.” It’s just very, very funny …

Do you have a secret talent/skill? I am really good with animals, especially dogs. I love them and they love me.

NEWS & NOTES

***USA Softball released the Team USA Women’s national team roster for the 2023 season. …

***2026 LHP/1B Kelsie Donaldson, who plays for Top Gun 16U National-Sciara, is off to a great start for Raymore-Peculiar (Ray-Pec) High in MO. She has a perfect game, a no-hitter and five shutouts in her first six starts. She is 6-0 with 64 strikeouts in 30 innings and has allowed seven hits and one earned run.

“With first the perfect game, I went in excited as the team we were facing is coached by my comp coach Joe Sciara,” Donaldson said. “I knew we’d win and knew it’d be a good game to kick off my sophomore season, but I definitely didn’t expect a perfect game of just strikeouts! My catcher, Bailey Hummel, called a perfect game behind the plate and our bats were on fire putting up 15 runs! After a great summer season, I knew I was going to be a more important piece to my team and I really wanted to set the tone. I told my Coach (Ali Locher) that I was good to go and took us through the entire tournament! It felt great.

“This then led to a 5-0 record taking us to our home opener which equaled a no-hitter. I knew all throughout the game I was throwing one and told myself that I just needed to continue to trust my catch, my spin and my D! It obviously worked as I had 16 Ks in the outing and moved my team to 6-0!!” …

***2028 RHP Chloe Laqui of Ohio Stingrays received her second invite to the USSSA Select 30 National Training Camp.

“I’m from Piqua, Ohio, and every time we travel to compete, people ask where is that and my parents always have to say, ’20 mins North of Dayton,’ and then people will say, ‘Oh, okay,’ lol,” Laqui said. “So it was really really exciting and honored to be invited for the second time! I always think I’m just an ordinary kid, but my mom always follows it with ‘getting EXTRAORDINARY opportunities!’ Aside from learning new and getting better with skills, the biggest thing I learned is no matter what your size is, always play with intention! There were a lot of high-ranking players there so always do your best to standout.” …
